Ethiopia has shown that they have no intention in actually developing DDSI. Iley & liyuu police are their little militia that will protect them whilst they extract all the resources inside dry, natural gas will be extracted and flown out by 2017 and guess what, Somalis won't be getting any of it.

Ethiopia expects to start producing and exporting natural gas from under-developed reserves in its southeast by 2017, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn said on Friday.

Several firms have already acquired licenses to explore more than 40 blocks throughout Ethiopia in the past four years, the vast majority of them in the southeastern Somali Region.

By 2050, Ethiopia's population will reach 170 million. Where do you think they will settle? The over farmed highlands facing unbearable soil degradation won't be able to sustain such a massive population. However, Somali lowlands potentially have millions of available hectares that could be irrigated if Ethiopia takes advantage of the rivers in the fertile plains. Most likely will

Has the so called peace option really paid off, or does this surrender mean Ethiopia completely owns Somalis and can do as they wish with them now? Will mainland Somalis be bordering Habeshas in 50 years time? Will DDSI become another Palestine as highlanders come down to settle in Somali lands making the case for separation impossible? Another L for the Somali ethnic group, prideful among ourselves but when it comes to foreigners we are docile and obedient.

The DDSI has only recently started developing, and it will continue to develop since the security situation is great. The DDSI will develop at an alarming rate when the hydrocarbons are exhumed.

Development will only mean more $$$ for the rapacious regime that's stolen $30 billion of aid so far.

The drought is wrecking Soomaali Galbeed but we ain't hearing shit out of there.

LOL by 2050 Ethiopia will probably be 3 or 4 different nations, the TPLF can only rule for so long before that bomb erupts worst than Somalia did.

I would not be too worried about the highlanders coming to the lowlands in the Somali region. The people that should be worried are those in Benishangul-Gumuz aka Region 6 and Gambela aka Region 12. They are more much richer in natural resources than the Somali region and have a combined population of less than 2 million. The Amhara and Oromo will colonize those two region first as they spill out of the highlands due to population growth.

The two regions are no more fertile than the other two regions and are mixed already as it is.

Oromia and Amhara are more fertile than those two, but are too densely populated. What I am saying is that these two regions will be colonized by those who find no living in Amhara or Oromia.

Benishangul is already mixed to begin with at the moment. It used to be a part of two provinces, one was predominantly Amhara, and one was predominantly Oromos.
The other two regions are not going to be out of land anytime soon, the terrain is tough in Amhara though.
