The west had its huge wars and most states now have strong ethnic majorities. Western states that did not manage to ethnically cleanse and consolidate around one ethnic group continue to be plagued by political instability e.g Belgium half french half dutch.
If you want a real nation state, you must erase everyone who is of a different religion or ethnic group, the west did this from 1530 to 1945.

Did you hear about the secret Christian missionaries in Somalia? They claimed to have converted thousands who practice in secret. Iran tried the same thing but were ejected. We're never going to be homogeneous religiously. Britain's native population don't all follow the same religion either. They're mainly Christian or without a religion..
