YESTERDAY I rewarded my 14-year-old nephew for getting mainly A’s at school. Gave him present

We, as a community, as parents lack the things that Cadaan people do for their kids. We don’t show the kids our gratitude. We don’t show them encouragement. We don’t talk to them.

Yesterday, I had a talk with him. He told me about a “” in his school. He told me about something called “she capping”. He also told me about this teacher the dislikes. He also talked about the xaliimos at his school.

He is 6’3 at his age.

I encouraged him to continue the good work and to keep his eyes on the prize.

I sure am!

Have you not read the thread out of Toronto Geeljire in this forum.

Subahanalah

Wish their parents peace but they should’ve moved out of Driftwood and Regent park before they grew up. It’s too late now.

Cadaans are a bad example. Most cadaan parents don’t care if their kids fail.
Cadaan parents encourage you and support you no matter what. I've seen instances where parents have discouraged their kids from a certain profession and they failed trying to pursue another.

I agree but they’re too lenient. Somali parents shouldn’t imitate their parenting methods.

A big problem I noticed is a lot of Somali parents do not talk to their school aged children. They just don't. They go to school come back home and that's it. They aren't actively keeping tabs on what they learned or who their friends are. And the sad fact is whenever you mention this Somalis take this as offensive as though we are blaming these parents. That is not what we are tryna do. As a parent you gotta be present like no just making food and cleaning for them, but be active in their social lives. That's why you see youth turning to the streets cause the parents are just not very present.

I do spoil my niece and nephews every chance I get except for Now I am broke. I need to get my money right before they grow up lol I want them to remmeber me forever

I’m gonna be honest. This issue you just spoken about is what he spoke to me about !

he said to “my is nice but he doesn’t communicate with me. He comes in the house and hands me food he bought from restaurants and says “divide amongst yourselves “. He keeps an eye on my grades. He doesn’t talk to me “.

I told him “ you can talk to me about anything. Now that you come of age and you understand things you can come up to me”.

I also offered to take him and my other nephew from a different family to Florida. I’ll take them to Orlando. He said he doesn’t care for World Disney but wants to see the beach. Instead of Orlando I’ll take them to Fort Lauderdale. Next month Inshalah

Why the f*ck you thought you needed to add his height ?

He is destined to break a lot of Xaliimos heart. Like uncle like nephew.

But I am all about academic achievements.

A good career before Xaliimos/Britney/Shaniqua.

He must not lose sight of education.

He can screw them and move on to the next one.
