I was a child when I went to Dubai I don't want to give away the exact year so I will say somewhere around 2003-2005 is when I went to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. My mum WAS LOADED with money so we had a great time then and there were a lot of Somalis back than. Life felt so different back than. I rarely saw gaalos there and when I did I would look in shock and point to my sisters. It was also still developing.

Yeah although I do want to visit uae to reminisce the good days but I'm.more interested in countries with less tourist. Oman is on my wishlist I also don't mind Qatar aswell.

Bro the avg Mali family I ran into wasn't taking vacation trips to the Gulf, or Europe. I didn't even think dhaqan celis was common because I assumed most families were too broke to vacation to Africa. As a kid a trip to Somalia sounded extremely expensive.

You Americans are starving. In Europe is very common to see somali families visit Somalia/Somaliland for months along with taking short breaks to UAE. It's unheard of not to go back home in Europe. I guess Africa is closer to Europe and less expensive.

There’s lot of rich Somalis. People are just lowkey so you won’t know who is rich. 2000s was also a good time economically but that’s my personal opinion. You could be trucker with your own truck or even without one and they were making bank in the 90s/00s. I knew a lot of people rich off of that good ol times. They were able to move out of the ghetto fast and get homes. Now their property is worth 1 million bucks.
