Wrong. It was the birth of the State of Somaliland. July 1 1960 was the start of the Somali Republic.

wrong... the blue flag was rised in north and the blue flag come from south somalia and the new nation which was born 26 june 1960 was called somali republic ...actually the name somaliland ended that day 26 june 1960---

Actually first time the blue flag was rised on this picture was 12 oktober 1954 in mogadishu.. Somalia had intrem goverment from 1954 to 1960 and the entrim goverment had the blue flag which was invented by SYL...
