70k Somalis live in South Africa

Didn’t know we had this high of population but it’s not surprising,I used to live in Mayfair which is little Somalia a suburb within Johannesburg we also have a large population in Belleville Cape town and Port Elizabeth

Can you explain the spaza shop thing are most stores in the townships run by Somalis ? Or are other nationalities more prominent

Spaza shops basically are small stores which sell groceries and food at a low price most are located where the locals live,before the Somalis/Ethiopians/Pakistanis came the locals used to buy from big department stores which were located in the city center and was more expensive,I would say most are run by those three nationalities
