The difference between these two situations is staggering.

South Africans were under the heel of imperialism and apartheid until less than 30 years ago. When they were freed, the skilled workers fled the country in large numbers and corporations imposed harsh penalties and threats of leaving the country if they were taxed. The population has control of their own destiny for a very short time and this takes some years to stabilize. They fund education, they encourage free thought. They don't pound down people and call them apostates and behead them. In contrast, Saudi Arabia has been ruled by the House of Saud since its inception, has all the money it needs and the backing and stability of the world's superpower and its population is still some of the most ignorant pieces of human trash to ever walk the earth. Instead of uplifting Muslims they export terror along with Iran. Turkey is no better. This is because of Islamic culture and its new focus on ideological skirmishing and killing, much like Christianity of old. Islam and its contemporary perceived values need to be reformed. A move towards Sufism is the ideal.
