I wonder, had the Neo-Assyrian Empire never collapsed, would the Jews face similar discrimination?
However it’s equally likely that the Levantine groups would be assimilated under this particular scenario. Also from the limited rusty memory I have regarding Iron Age Levantine-Assyrian relationships the two groups did not get along well.
