let’s be honest if we could trade HSM for abiy to be Somalias presidents we would do it in heartbeat

Abiye might be bad with economy and finance but he is strong and iron fist atleast with abiye you know the countries sovereignty is not questioned

That’s the point of a strong government is to always have a monopoly on violence

also abiye is no where near levels of corruptions HSM is,Abiye could be corrupt but the institutions would not allow him to be

One that believes they can. If Abiy pulls of the plans he has they might be. He just needs to stop begging the IMF because that’s a sure fire way to not be one.
His plan on getting coastline? There are like a hundreds of other things Ethiopia also needs to do in order for it to become a superpower. Unless Abiy becomes a lifelong dictator, the next PM is unlikely to follow his steps.

Ethiopian politics shifts radically every decade, there is no single vision for the country and its been a three way shitshow between Amhara, Tigrayans and Oromos since the 60s. Yes, all Ethiopian leaders try to expand Ethiopia's influence, power and wealth but that always comes at massive costs.

It’s more than that. He’s giving the country a joint enemy, us. He’s giving them belief that their country can bully others. This combined with the Gerd damn a massive project shows what he’s trying to do.

He put the Tigrayans in their place so forcefully there probably won’t be any other true test to his power.

if he utilises his relationship with the UAE and their finances well we could be staring in the face of a true power.

equally if it doesn’t work he could end up fracturing his country.

We'll see about that then. His country is more fractured than ever.
