AFRICAN claims Baati/Dirac isn’t Somali

Historians or whatever those niggas are that study this shit. Not to mention the internet of which you are browsing. If we use your dumb logic then what claims do Indians have on sambusa? Or japanese on yukata?
:mahubowtf:

Relax mate. This debate has been going on and off for like a year+ on tiktok and twitter, and there is never anything concrete produced, especially for something that supposed to date back to the 50s

South yemenis adopted the diraac from somalis (through trade and through somalis living in yemen)

North yemenis have nothing to do with diraac
You proved my point. South Yeminis adopted diraac so now it's apart of their culture. But the origins of diraac is Somali. Sambuus was originally Indian culture (Samosas) but since a lot of Indians came into Somalia for trade, we adopted it and we intergrated it into our culture. It's Somali culture with Hindi origins.

Oromos are langaab so don't mention those n*ggers. But Somalis do claim a lot of Arab culture as their own. Such as some of their language, foods and dances. Cultures mix together all the time. But meh I don't really care.

Warya, Yemeni/Saudi/Omani are ultimate langaabs
This is why we have jews in isnotreal claiming malawach

Still not from Yemen, it’s originally from Somalia. So dhaanto is now both Somali and Oromo bcuz Oromo adopted it?

The problem with Somalis is they think a little cheap maro that’s worn all across Africa belongs to them. :mjlol: Almost every country in Asia/MiddleEast/Africa has a version of the baati/Dirac. Who are you for them to steal from? People are nomadic peoples. Fancy diracs we’re created by going to Indian textile stores and using their materials. Prior to that our diracs were plain and looked like every other piece of fabric I’m Africa

My point exactly. Every culture has some version of clothing that looks exactly like a diraac.

Stop raging, you need to relax. Cultures spread and intergrate into other societies all the time, we aren't special.
Bro you literally just said no other african can claim it but when it comes to arabs it’s “cultures spread abd integrate”?

You completely misunderstood her point. It's apart of their culture but it has Somali origins. When a Somali makes some sambuus, they're going to call it "Somali food" not "Indian food". Obviously it has Indian origins but it has intergrated and become apart of Somali culture.

The Somali language has over 300 arab words in it, we steal a lot of our food from other cultures and much more. Do you see others getting mad? No. They still have everything intact.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. When the diraac was first created and became popular, it immediately spread into Yemen as well. Other countries didn't have it besides us 2.

They’re not claiming your culture. Everyone can wear there’s proudly. Have you ever seen an Indian tell you to stop claiming Sambusa as your own. It’s your take on it. Have you seen Indians tell you to stop claiming their shaah. Just enjoy and embrace your culture and if people have adapted from your culture let them and vice versa. It’s not the end of the world

Somalis stole South Asian chai and passed it on as "Shaax" (Shaax is an arab word that we stole by the way) and are now trying to gate keep loose cloth. However Shaax is Somali culture with South Asian origins, but we call it Somali culture. Nobody gets mad.
