I support the move but I would prefer them to cleanse the city first. A undercover force in Bosaso would do more damage. You have to uproot the whole operation. Attacking the mountains when you have a whole terror network in the city doesn't make sense to me but OK.

To be honest with you I think a large part of this is working with international partners and building capacity and trust/rapport with them that is great for PL strategically but probably doesn’t happen if it’s not the mountains and it’s the city instead. You can’t use drones or American special ops in such a setting.

There is also a political aspect to it for Deni/PL. Clearing out daacish while Villa Somalia isn’t willing to seriously fight and defeat shabaab is a great contrast. That is what HSM has been against this and asked for Villa Somalia to manage it which international community to him to f*ck off. It needs to be highly visible in order to have this effect.
