Imagine if the rebel factions in Somalia didn't fight the government until perhaps the Arab Spring and Siad Barre didn't pass away? The same thing Syrians are facing, would have been facing Somalia. Would the US government and the West have backed Siad Barre against the rebel factions if Al Qaeda was swallowing the Somali opposition? Would the rebel groups have put their arms down and formed a new government with Barre?

Siad barre went against the Quran publicly, he was doomed. SNM and USC should of formed a government in 1991.
