Not really. I think soldiers can change, but not one of the founders of al shabab. He only fought them due to a power struggle with godane. Shabab eliminated a lot of the early leadership to consolidate power and he was one of the last ones left. He provides a lot of benefit to HSM I won’t deny that, but he doesn’t necessarily benefit SWS as he will just be a puppet. I think Al shabab will grow stronger due to him because of that.

That was a far more powerful and impactful role than religious affairs minister.

I likewise hate them but to be honest they have too much influence on somali politics. Even in Puntland, Al Itihad rebranded itself as Al Ictisam After they got defeated by Abdullahi Yusuf and they hold a lot of power.

So why are you singling out Fahad Yasin? He has a history with al ictihad in Gedo, yes, but was never a terrorist and has never joined ICU or al shabab and was simply a journalist working.
