Karam means generous in the Arabic language. Even the layman would tell you this. Have you read the Quran before? I am starting to doubt that you are Somali now.

Are you serious, warya? If the people in Zeila spoke Arabic why would Al Umari emphasis that the word came from the Zayla’i language (لغة الزيالعة). If we just an Arabic term than a fluent Arab like Al Umari would’ve explained it that way. Is Bil now also an Arabic word

Reminds me of the whole debacle around the ethnicity of Mogadishu's medieval sultans. Despite the fact that Ibn Battuta literally described the sultan Abu Bakr ibn Shaikh 'Umar as a Barbar who spoke Maqdishi in addition to Arabic, he twisted it to meaning he was a Swahili lol.
