Albino somali?

Anyone else notice these ‘albinos’ have smaller lips than their non-albino counterparts if they are indeed Somali or other African albinos? Just like northerners Europeans. I wonder if albinism leads to this through some related mechanism to complete melanin production loss.

Albinism occurs naturally; white people just have (A;A) variant of rs1426654(SLC24A5) while I have the (G;G), alongside rs16891982(SLC45A2) I have (C;C).

But do albino Africans typically have smaller lips is the question
I think it just appears that way, due to the lack of melanin. The only albinos I've come across are Tanzanian, who tend to be intermixed with south cushites so may have already naturally smaller lips.

What do you mean by caucasian phenotype ? The somalis i see don't look like caucasian. they look like black people with narrower nose and slightly softer hair. Even chinese kids can tell somali people are black.

This is how average somali looks like. Caucasian where ?

Only the guy speaking looks like an average Somali. Man Utd top and yellow top in the back can genuinely pass off as Ugandan or black Brazilian

I don't know why some of you guys think we have one look. We're literally ancient biracials our phenotype range is insane compared to other ethnic groups.

Not just that, there are a lot of Bantu street children and labourers on the street, so these videos and pictures will sometimes have a disproportionate amount of Bantus compared to Somalia's true demographics.

Even the so-called Somali national football team, mostly from Mogadishu and its environs has a good number of Bantu players.

Also, people who intermarry with CadCads, Barawanis ethnic have Bantu admixture too. I know someone with an CadCad mother, who looks Bantu, because his mother looks like a lightskinned Bantu. People's perceptions of what ethnic Somalis really look like is thrown off by all sorts of factors.

none of them look Somali aside from the guy on the microphone, remember there’s a very big Bantu population in somalia, I remember seeing a video of a tourist at a beach in puntland, and half the people there looked straight up Congolese

@queasyian Now tell me which one of these is the Somali look you're talking about? They literally all have different phenotypes but are of the same ethnic group. There's no one way of looking Somali.

Literally every group on Earth is "biracial" whatever that means. As for these guys, they all have the ethnic Somali phenotype. The other image posted earlier had a lot of Somali Bantu phenotypes represented.

We all know how an ethnic Somali looks, from the darkest to the lightest, lets get real.

Somali phenotype is hard to pinpoint, yet all Somalis can be immediately recognized. I’d guess it’s more of a facial structure thing that we subconsciously pick up on. In addition, there are more easily identifiable features like a narrower nose, lighter skin, and curly to even straight hair.

It’s a common phenomenon where a single Somali family has members who all share that distinct Somali look (facial structure) but vary in skin tones or hair texture, though never to the extent of what could be classified as Bantu phenotypes.

It’s almost like the uncanny valley; you can sense that "something is different," but when asked to pinpoint exactly what, it's hard to articulate. I think Somalis have painted themselves in a corner by assuming that the Somali look is solely defined by nose shape, hair, and skin tone.

For example, Imaan falls on the darker end of the skin tone spectrum, yet she is unmistakably Somali. Somalis are mostly unchanged for thousands of years genetically, you could clock them from even other cushtic groups, perhaps only hard to distinguish from Afar and from the muslim borona oromos in Kenya and around the Somali border areas.

People will then gaslight themselves and post Somalis with the fairest skin tones, highest nose bridges and straightest hair and say that is how Somali looks while this lady is how the average Somali auntie looks like.

She has the quintessential Somali phenotype.

Also you might be gaslighting yourself here, but notice how her nose bridge is high? That is actually a standard trait among Somalis.

Her hair will also likely range from wavy to 3C curls at most.

The Somali phenotype is not as varied as many are painting it out to be. We have an identifiable and unique look.

You don't get my point. Find another ethnic group that's not Dominican, Horner or Fulani that has this range of phenotype.

Look at Suldaan Seraar and then look at Sh. Shariif. As Somalis we can quickly point out that they're Somali, I don't know how but we can, even though they have completely different phenotypes.

Compare Barkhad Abdi and Abdullahi Yusuf, both look very Somali but have different phenotypes. We are unique in that sense, we don't have one look.
