Habesha is mostly linguistic identity. An Ethiopiam friend explain it to me . They are heavily assimilationist and infact many Amhara have Oromo origins and viceversa. If you adopt Orthodox Christianity and speak a semitic language you pretty much become habesha , they assimilated people in the span of 2 -3 generations so many of the Amharas who hate Oromo actually live close with them and likely have Oromo ancestry and viceversa many of the Oromo nationalists who hate Amhara have habesha ancestry because of proximity
