Just this month (June 2024), the Gadabursi Ugaas had a meeting with the Gadabursi Cali Siciid subclan that lives in the Silt'e Zone near Addis Ababa. They lived there for hundreds of years but never forgot their Gadabursi identity. They requested a meeting with the Ugaas for over a month. Hundreds of the Cali Siciid elders, men, women, businessmen, politicians and clan elders welcomed the Gadabursi Ugaas and next meeting they will travel to Awdal.

The Ugaas speaking in Amharic:
"May Allah bless you continuously and praise be to Allah who enabled us to have this meeting. We welcome you home and as your Ugaas it is an honour for me to visit my family."

Not surprised there is a large community there, I lived in Addis when I was younger for a time, I learnt Amharic and Oromo, but forgot it.

One of the points of interest that came out of another conference held a few weeks ago in Dire Dhaba was the request of 100 women from the Silte Siciid to wed 100 Gadabursi men :whew:

When did they migrate there was it Ahmed gurey time or post Ahmed gurey, if they claim Ahmed gurey time their settlements must show some architecture from that period or maybe their conquered gadabursi from habashi wars and war prisoners

Because this Gadabursi community only speak Amharic so the Ugaas is speaking to them in Amharic. This is an old Gadabursi community in Ethiopia. They left Awdal well over a century ago.
How they can be sure these are gadabursi?

I hear many somali elders with zero logic, saying Oromos are Somali because they are reer hebel and hebel, or a saying the Ethiopian are more closer to Isaaq because they are banu Hashim.

Ethiopians benefit from Somalis believing anything that is relayed orally. I have a fear that there are A LOT of larpers in Somalia, and it explains the pathetic politics.

You guys might want to do DNA tests, before you end up with 100 Amhara women, sabotaging your families, and changing their allegiances. A community that cannot be destroyed by external forces, is always infiltrated and attacked from within.

It's likely they dispersed after the fall of the Adal Sultanate and sought shelter in Silte lands.

There are even Gadabursi who dispersed to Eritrea known as the Gadafur who are now apart of the Saho.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but it would be wise to conduct DNA tests. Ethiopia has an incentive to implant its people in Somalia. In future, we could even end up with straight up Oromo or Habeshas in our parliaments.
That is unlikely to happen. They would form into their own Reer and not be assimilated into existing Reers.

They are not Amhara. It's more beneficial to us than it is for them to re-establish ties. But I agree there should be DNA tests done.
