Presumably photographed during the Ogaden War, when the USSR supported Ethiopia against Somalia.

I think the banner behind reads 'Education' (waxbarashada). I'm not sure what the 'M.O.S.' means at the bottom right of the main banner.

The other banner says “Gobonimo” or Liberation/Independence.

Interesting, wonder how much of this local vs pushed by the government at the time.
