somali identity is with islam. there has been no somali identity pre islam.

Religion and ethnicity are 2 different things, you new gen diaspora muslims pushing this narrative that we are some sort of ethnoreligious group will never work. At the end of the day they will be somali if not from our community than the rest of the world will see them as that. Seeking validation from other somalis is a waste of time anyways what is there to gain. If you guys claim them or if not nothing changes either way.

the earliest records of people being somali was in the the islamic age. persians indians egyptians had well recorded identities pre islam. somalis do not have a well documented identity pre islam. and somalis are fully muslim people. we dont have religious minorities like levantines.
If Somalis were ethnoreligious we wouldn’t be having civil wars.
