Either these guys, hunter gatherers or people who inhabited Ethiopia-rift valley (depends how ancient you are talking about). If you're talking about where did cushtic languages originate than the answer is the ethio-Eritrea area. Most likely Ethiopia since it has the most divergent forms of the language.

Which is what I was pretty much saying, only reason I said ethi-eri region is because we don't know whether beja or agaw are older than the lowland cushtic languages.
The 'black' ancestry of somalis which is the ancient east African are extinct, no modern population resemble then genetically, the same thing could be said about somalis west-asian ancestry.
Third of Dinka lineage is from west-central Africa.
