Mentorship can be done in a (1) informal or (2) formal capacity. I'd typify some of the assistance I have given as the former.
We need organised streams of mentorship that constitute something above assistance.

We lack as a community people who are specialised in varied careers and who are willing to help others. You aren't the problem sophi don't worry.

Somalis dont like the fake corporate world. All those non black people you befriend are talking shit about you behind your back. Its why Somalis prefer independent jobs.

Some also don't like authority, accept rigid structure, or have discipline which is why their country is a shithole and the community is in shambles. You still have to be friendly people in independent jobs or you lose business or you'll be fired by whatever company you work for that made them independent workers.

this is a lie. Tons of somalis are doing fine working in corporate.

Most of the somalis that prefer independent jobs are old heads, somali entrepreneurs and truck drivers.

Diaspora need to be in independent jobs, especially in business. Every somali I know is already a doctor.

Back home need to be factory people and work inhumane hours to build their country, bright ideas mean nothing when you spend your human hours chewing grass from the floor.

It depends on where you go. Where I live, there are mentorship programs for children and young adults, and I believe established professionals mentor them. Part of the issue may stem from people lacking time to dedicate to such initiatives.

As an aside, I’ve noticed people often confuse sponsorship with mentorship. Sponsors help you in your profession and career advancement, connecting you to their networks. Conversely, mentorship focuses more on providing guidance, advice, and support (or knowledge sharing).

i imagine its hard enough being a successful somali in the west with how tough it is (we are latter migrants compared to other groups) that its hard to make time to help others who arent direct family. there's also taking care of hooyo, there's taking care sending money back home to first cousins, hooyo's family and then your own family., its not easy

I know guys that have been stuck paying their parents rent for years now. Being born sucks. Young Somali professionals shouldn't have to worry about taking care of their families.

Some will do it but most aren't interested in independent work. A stable 9-5 is what most people want.

From what I know mentorship is providing continuous weekly/monthly advice and information on what someone should do to achieve their goals in that particular profession or goal. Usually brief but illuminating.

Very easy things for people to do in my opinion, I wouldn't even say it reaches the average amount of effort helping any randomn charity needs.

Am I tripping or isn't sponsoring somebody giving the ingrate money?

Most somalis are finished, the ONLY reason why we are far behind as an ethnicity especially when you understand our huge potential.

He's trolling. He knows even independent jobs with low barriers to entry like Uber require a 4.0 or higher to drive for them. There's a reason why so many times you'll see the person behind the wheel isn't the person on the app.

Nigga having a bunch of independent entrepreneurs won't do shit for us. We already got a bunch of independent niggas back home.

Your 17. Relax a bit negro. Most of this generation of 20-40 year old educated somalis grew up in households with uneducated parents. Most of these people are considered the wealthiest in their family even though they have a middle class income. That stable 9-5 was a life changing achievement for a lot of somalis.

If you read a little more carefully I clearly indicated towards talking about diaspora being driven entrepreneurs.

I said back home we need 9-5 slaves like every other country on earth. The only stable thing we have is MAYBE Pastoralism. Everything else is non existent or going to perish, especially sending back lacag to family.

in 20 years or so Somalis in the west will do much better, on average we don't do particularly badly in academics and will mostly just enter the workforce like all other communities, a subsection may involve themselves in nonsense but that's to be expected given the poverty we're under and the amount of oppressed groups we fit into within contemporary western society.

for the most part Somalis that "make it" give back at least here in England, and if not the reason is most likely due to the cult like nature of our people putting others off. I agree though that those that achieve success that don't do even the slightest to give back are somewhat sell-outs even if I can understand the negativity of our culture being off putting.

Can't depend on the young diaspora. Niggas just want a stable 9-5.

If it makes you feel better we got some young entrepreneurs making some nice street wear clothing lines :denzelnigga: . I don't know if they're getting any sales laakin these niggas are still putting in work :salute:.

We also have a bunch of street pharmacists earning a stable income.

This is what I mean, we need smart driven somalis to come and create literal industries, coming from a successful business background made in the west.

Your right, we're totally facked.

You need people like me
Somali's are way more individualistic than most here would like to admit. Linkedin also makes it easier to focus on helping people who are likelier to be successful as you can see what uni they went to, and what internships/jobs they've had before you respond.

laakin ka daneeyso. who cares if they talking shit behind your back. Get your bread and experience and then leave.
