Do you think teachers should be allowed to romantically pursue their students?

no. Your in school to learn not involve yourself in relationships. This will harm the schools brand and its teaching status quo

All of my teachers were Shreks by the time I had reached my teens. The hot ones only seem to tutor age 10 and below. I won’t lie if that TikTok Somali teacher, Ms.Hassan, from Toronto stood in front of our class back then I would have been in trouble.

One of the key issues here is the power-imbalance. Imagine breaking up with someone who has power to give you a bad grade, or get you expelled.

I think if someone is interested in another adult at university, they should get a written consent form from the parents and maybe get a job at another university.
I saw the thread and was amazed by the clown who spoke about β€˜westernization’.

What’s crazy is that I had a conversation with my cousin from back home about this a few months ago. She’s a uni student, so she isn’t a child, but it was still disturbing nonetheless as she’s a bright girl and felt her teacher was lowering her marks since she rejected his flirting and advances earlier in the year. How can anyone be okay with that? Seriously as a brother or father ect would be you be okay sending your daughter to school and feeling under pressure and defeated because the teacher wants her and then takes it out on her grades which is what usually happenes?

Relationships between learning instructors and students should be a no go zone even at university levels as it is unethical in every angle. It’s unprofessional, causes issues such as lowered grading, or even cheating and extra help at the expense of other students and the list goes on.

!!!!!!

Even adult women have issues with men who can't take 'no' for an answer. Imagine some miskeen student, some of them don't even have parents to protect them. Like that little girl whose teacher claimed he 'married her'.

Exactly, very few of these teachers are even cute for students to even develop a crush on them. But what kind of adult pursues students with crushes, no boundaries having people.

I should make another poll.

I'll make an informal one here. 'Like' my post if YOU have been pursued by a teacher?

I have. No, I didn't like him, and yes, he was even physically attractive, but I was not interested in anything but getting an education from him. And yes, he was mostly raised in Somalia, I am starting to wonder how pervasive this culture is back home.

Also @Angelina, I forgot to add to my response to you.

Isn't it sad that we have to appeal to men who support this, by saying 'your daughter, sister, mother'. It's like some of them can't see girls as humans worthy of protection, unless they are their blood relation. YIKES!
I don’t believe many on here are very screwed on and they come across as being starved of women since they’ll support any way in which men can get access to women if you get what I’m talking about. There doesn’t seem to be any thinking of consequences and how certain things play out negatively.

Also, if we look at this even from the perspective of an adult Uni setting, I’m sure if those guys were to see it happen in real life they’d have issues.

If they knew that their male teacher was interested in a female student and that student was getting high marks, their first thought would be favoritism, cheating and other allegations. They’d feel disgruntled and look at the education system as being a joke

The rule of teachers not forming personal relationships with students is meant to protect everyone involved, from the teacher himself to the said female students and also other students who might feel they’re at a disadvantage since the teacher might allow his affections to cloud his marking abilities.

Also, don’t get me started on cases in which the teacher feels rejected? It’s just an all around unethical situation and anyone who thinks about it for a second would come to that conclusion, even them, but they’re incredibly thirsty it’s disgusting. Ultimately, they’re desperate to gain access to women that they’ll co-sign a man doing it in such a shady and icky manner.

Honestly I find dugsi teachers more predatory than actual grade school teachers..

I had a dugsi teacher in Ethiopia who would openly flirt with me but I didn’t care because I was one of the only girls he didn’t punish πŸ’€

I do not even believe in work place romance. Let alone a professor or instructor ever pursuing their student. I think of institutions as scholarly settings not for romantic scavengering.

It’s SUPER common in West Africa where the teachers in university and high school will purposefully fail you unless you give sexual favors it’s disgusting 🀒

Main character syndrome is strong. There have to be at least some of us who want to stand out and be ok with this 🀣

That is human nature, not just men. If I said let’s save the animals on the planet there is no point of reference or emotional attachment for most people. However if I take the two most popular pets and said let’s save the planet’s Cats and Dogs, you will garner a greater amount of support compared to using a parent category like β€˜animals’.

CEOs with new born daughters are more likely to promote women in their companies than those without daughters. I will never understand why women don’t use these emotional pressure points to the fullest to get what they deserve.
