Ik it might sound barbaric, but a scorched earth policy might be the way forward to salvage the situation, otherwise they’ll build on the momentum from the current offensive. They’ll have to take the fight to clans and juufos who support AS (and yes there are clans and subs who actively support and are loyal to AS) before anyone starts bawling their eyes out.

What's al Shabaab's motive by the way? Like what's their endgame? I'm from thr north so I don't hear much about al shabab
The only good policy would be is to get all maamul goboleeds soldiers+ all militias to invade Jilib at once. 80-100k soldiers at once compared to 9k AS soldiers. All of the helicopters + fighter jets should be used to bomb the area like Dresden. Then those militias should be paid like ATMIS is. And instead tell those Gaajo Africans to F off.
The problem is how do you control all those militias afterwards? None of them are loyal to FGS.
The endgame is to turn Somalia into Taleban 2.0. They got their rule stopped pretty quickly when Ethiopia invaded 2006.
You dissolve them and include them to SNA. The current salaries should be doubled from what it is now. My policy is great one. It will get us far compared to now. If this goes on AS will conquer Somalia

That's what I'm saying. Most of these fighters just want money. If they don't have money, they'll choose clan loyalty. But if the SNA pay increases, it will definitely attract more loyalty there.
Does anyone know what Jilib looks like? There has to be full recon before invasion. AS would have the landscape advantage but a full scale aerial and ground invasion is necessary.

To rule the entirety of the south and then consolidate it under an “Islamic” emirate. Highly unlikely but who knows what might happen in a year or two.
Main issue is coordination between FGS and the mamuul goboleeds and their forces, there’s pretty much none. The SNA got its ass handed to it by Jubaland so it’s not in the equation anymore as a competent or reliable fighting force against AS. Also clans are smoking one another down there and aren’t paying attention to the emerging AS threat. And last but not least, the infrastructure and accessibility in those AS strongholds prevents large scale military manoeuvres.

I don’t mean the destruction of farm land and greenery, but more along the lines of settlements and attacking clans which are backers of AS in an indiscriminate manner, it would weaken their resolve, and they’d be more willing to turn over their operatives or desert the AS grouping. It’d have to be quick and vicious. Right now, entire clans are baked into the structure of AS it sort of operates like a confederacy.
Somalia is finished then. If they can’t agree on that.
