Awdal state welcomes Ethiopia to take over Zeila port

This is what Italians predicted 60+ years ago when we were their colony. They didn't see much potential in the territory which became somalia economy. this was due to barren land and lack of resources. They predicted as stand alone country we would function as port for ethiopia. they hit it right on the head all we got going for us is ports. The differnece between haves and have nots somalis states/countries is ports

When Qabyaalad and Xaasidnimo coalesce in a people, they self destruct in spectacular fashion, they are incapable of discerning what is of benefit and what is harmful to them, if that zero sum trend continues, subjugation, enslavement and perpetual humiliation becomes the abode.

Giving full control over a port is lunacy, but a lucrative deal will lead to the construction of vital infrastructure to serve a large growing Market.

For Awdal to really take advantage of this and get ahead of the rest, they will have to solve why no one wants to set up manufacturing in the country, the expensive cost of energy being the prime reason and infrastructure second.

Solving this is simple, large scale solar/wind farm and an exclusive business district near the port that taps into that cheap energy and of course good governance.

Investments will begin to flood in as labour is cheap, energy cheap, and infrastructure doesn't become a factor when shipping goods abroad or to Ethiopia (within Somalia becomes a problem)

But unfortunately for us, much of our wealth is in the hands of morons and the general populace is sick with qabyaalad and xaasidnimo and hence blinded from all opportunities, so we will wallow in collective gaajo and be pawns on a chessboard for others.

Just on this thread you can see that some support this initiative just to spite another group, while others pull out the fake Somaliweyn card to oppose it, a bunch of spiteful hypocrites, typical crab in a bucket mentality.

Ciise elders reject Abiy’s ambitions and speak out against his aggression.
They're not even speaking from Saylac lol that says enough.

It's rich they're talking about sacrificing their lives for Saylac when Western Sitti is still occupied by Afar backed by ENDF.

This Italians prediction on economic potential of somalia, so far they’ve been proven right we have not been able to overcome our land. We cycle between drought and floods that damages only real export livestock. It’s true 70 years later only real money maker is ports for Somalis. True in Djibouti, somaliland and Somalia

yeah because nearly every sector has been obliterated thanks to 30+ years of chaos. If the rebel-formed government or MSB regime still existed these problems would be far less severe.

I hope you SL guys aren’t blaming awdal for this. You guys are the ones who sold out to Ethiopia first by arming SNM with Ethiopian weapons to terrorize gadabursi. Inshallah awdal becomes more prosperous than hargeisa with their new port.

Even in the 70's and 80's US and Soviets diplomats saw Somalia as useless land, while talking good about Ethiopia. But successful countries with no resources like S-Korea, Singapore, etc are examples for not to rely on just resources, or even ports.
