Belfast school assault being investigated as hate crime

Story emerging out of Belfast, Uk, gaining traction in media and right wing media. Parents are going to protest outside the school today.

I saw a couple of blurred pics posted by the wasteman David Atherton on Twitter and it looks like it might be dadkeena. I hope the school carries out a fair investigation as we don’t know what caused the violent incidents.

There’s Somalis in Northern Ireland? I know there’s a few in Ireland proper but I wasn’t aware of this community.

The somali girls were being racially abused and bullied for while and thus retaliated. The cadaans, who outnumber them, have formed a hate mob against them.

I blame the parents. They need to pack up and move their children out of the area; it's not safe.

Racism is bound to happen in areas where immigration is little. Somali parents have to relocate to ares whrte there's larger somali or even muslim population.

And this has been exacerbated by the right wing social media outlets getting a hold of this story and spreading rumours about a Somali Hijabi gang on the rampage. I am sure other Somalis around the other area are now more vulnerable. I wonder if there are Somali organisations or Muslim in the area who could look further into this issue.

You can’t just pack up and leave when you stuck in social housing or have claimed asylum.

One of the problems we have is that too many Somalis believe these right wing media outlets are harmless and pose no threat to people’s everyday life. When they’re able to make these types of stories gain traction with an emphasis on hostile Somalis against whites, it leads to people turning up at the school gates as we see in the story here. Other Somalis in the area who have to send their children to school will also be affected.

More Somalis need to be active on Twitter and social media in reporting these posts, refuting their lies and reaching out to local communities so they can tell us their perspective. The right wing posts relating to localised events are more dangerous than some madow guy making a joke about foreheads.

That's what I been screaming for years. Social media is real life these days. Most peope.get there misinformation through social media. This isn't 2008. More people are become brainwashed and radicalised into being a racist and things there's nothing wrong since social media like tiktok is normalising hatred and division.

The problem some users have is with people posting hundreds threads of “Congolese guy mocks Somalis” “madow girl says this about this” threads. I think such focus of this scale and micro analysing every viral comment about Somalis is futile and isn’t actually good for mental health. Our focus should be on stories like this where there is potential of harm and Somalis are endangered as result of alt right posts making Somalis going viral.

I like the work Mukhtar does on Twitter (even though I don’t believe Somalis should waste their time with being that obsessive over every post of cadaan alt right social media influencers). He does seem to be found wanting when commenting on Somali issues. He confronts cadaan social media influencers for using racially charged language yet he ignores the same users making lies about Somalis being responsible for incidents which were committed by other ethnic groups.

This is the problem he's spineless, he rides the wave but the problem with somali issues they will only be picked up by other Somalis and our adjacent allies like other muslims, so he doesn't bring light them.
