I'm against thomas Jefferson's statue being taken down but don't whitewash history. He raped a 14 year old girl and had 7 children with her, enslaving all of them and only freeing her when he died. He was a despicable man even for his time and people heavily disliked him and rumoured about him for it. He's honoured for his presidency and the declarations of independence. That's it.
