XamarCade that is a complex question I believe the question should be how can the support for Al Shabab in certain places be lessened and the governance of this places be strengthened as Al Shabab will not be defeated in the long run or its message.

What is required is methodology. Why did it take so long to get a recognized government in Somalia that is in Mogadishu?

No change of leader or symbolism can change the situation if they do not follow every step that is required to lessen Al Shabab‘s grip. They can be more or less successful but the overall situation will not change.

Think of it like a business and consumer. Al Shabab have a better service and delivery and the government in Mogadishu has no incentive. The people who should be fighting Al Shabab and offer something better to this people are quarreling among themselves and have nothing to offer.

Al Shabab in many ways in its operating manual has in it to take advantage of the clan rivalry by penning one clan against the other. It offers clans on the sidelines who feel marginalized a sense of belonging and they often rotate according on who is in charge.

In regions where Al Shabab is out of the picture like Somaliland, Puntland and Galmudug there are things people hold onto like the idea of Somaliland and Puntland that preceded Al Shabab and in Galmudug the Sufi way of life.

In areas of Al Shabab control in southern Somalia people have nothing except Al Shabab who often is their legacy.

Furthermore there is an element of war profiteering whereas many businesses do not want any competitors and therefore want to uphold the status quo.

In short if the governance in those areas are improved and good services delivered to the people and they have something meaningful to hold onto Shabab‘s influence could be lessened.

But this will not happen because anyone in charge will spend 4 years fighting spoilers who are supposed to help defeat Shabab but because of the disconnect they fall short.

Only with real unity and purpose can success come and Shabab driven out. For that it needs a well defined Somalia on who is in charge, what regions are under which state etc.

Elections and a constitutional referendum can deliver more legitimacy that together with a census but that will be hard for anyone to achieve as it requires unity and people of different clans and political persuasion to join hands in the fight against Al Shabab.

No need for unity or reconciliation.

A decent intelligence network and a centrally controlled security apparatus could identify and karbash all those in the way of a united Somalia in a year.

Pussyfooting around won't get you nowhere with warlords and greedy useless clan elders that will take a mile when you give them an inch.

Only after that could you immediately focus on better service delivery even if that is the main thing that will limit Al Shabaab's growth.

If you try to provide all those services first then you'll also just end up with saboteurs at every corner working for those same people.

Once you have centralised control then place puppets in those states and cities and postpone real democracy for a decade at least.

US carries out first airstrikes against Islamic State in Somalia

At least half a dozen missiles are said to have been fired in two airstrikes, as the US extends its fight against IS..

18:32, UK,Friday 03 November 2017

America has carried out its first airstrikes against Islamic State fighters in Somalia, killing "several terrorists".

The US Africa Command said two drone strikes had taken place in northeastern Somalia, with the first coming at midnight local time on Friday and the second later in the morning.

The attack was carried out in coordination with the Somali government.

At least six missiles hit Buqa, a mountainous village in the northern state of Puntland, a Somali security official said.

The attack may have targeted senior leaders of IS, which has a growing presence in the region.

The mayor of nearby Qandala town, Jama Mohamed, confirmed the attack, which he said had terrified locals and sent them fleeing with their animals.

America has previously carried out more than a dozen drone strikes against the al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab group in Somalia.

It has a much bigger presence in the country than IS and was blamed for last month's attack in Somali capital Mogadishu that killed more than 350 people.

In May, IS said it was behind a suicide bombing in Puntland state that killed at least four people - thought to be the first time it has claimed an attack in Somalia.

Why is it the neefs who have no State in Somalia always want to see the them burn?

:gucciwhat:
It's a low blow on his part but he's right.

a) Trump expanded AMISOM rules of engagement which will increase drone strikes

b) Puntland is a haven for terrorists high on U.S. radar (ISIS). U.S. is bombing ISIS in North Africa, in the Sahel and now, finally, Puntland

The worst line from that article is the mayor of Qandala saying the locals were scared shitless and fleeing

Sheikh Abdulkadir Muumin was most likely killed horrifically. Live and die by the sword. He took it all the way. One has to feel for his young adolescent children and early twenties daughter who will see it as a martyrdom.

Macaan,

Puntlandimo is above any Qabil in Puntland.

We’re just trying to spread unity and sometimes it doesn’t find itself in small hard to reach areas.

Puntlanders place Puntland Above Tribe. This is what hurts kids like this.

If my own Tuulo is harbouring terrorists. Blow that fucking place.

Nothing is Above Puntlandnimo within those 200,000sq/km

Exactly right. Puntland come before qabil. That's why, Ali Saleeban shouldn't get a a dime, in the form of political representation, than they already have. Since they're MJ, and MJ virtually guaranteed Presidency due to numbers. Give more political representation to deserving people, such as Leelkase and Carab Salah.

Do you support him?

Would you still put a bullet in his head?

If you think twice about that question then you’re part of the problem. The moment someone joins a terror group they have left thier Qabil, Islam and Somalinimo.

I can't believe you would ask me such a silly question. Of course i don't support him and his cause. Just because, he was a respected Ali Saleeban, doesn't mean I'll be on his side. I deeply despise all Khawarijite groups, even of their members and leaders are of my subclan.

Contact details?

We’ll send you images of his charred body and limbs by mail.

Yes please, I would like that.

Two reasons why: cuqdad of anything and everything MJ related, and jealousy due to the inadequacies of their clans, to do the simplest of things without another clan or countries holding their hand.

 Become a Gobolist! Not a Qabilist.

You should love your Gobol more then your Qabil. As this grows in Puntland, people will have a Puntland Identity that will be difficult to break.

Everyone in Puntland must be treated equally.

The phenomenon and model of the south is to Pit larger tribes against eachother and support smaller tribes who feel under represented by joining terrorist groups. It’s lose-lose situation and only the terrorist win because they want larger tribes to slaughter smaller tribes.

This model cannot be tolerated in Puntland.
