If I didn't know any better, I'd say his use of the term "Somali people" rather than Somalia is....interesting
Throw in the random Houthi accusation and I'm starting to think something else is in play.
They already diversifed their strategy away from FGS focus anyway. I think people are grasping at straws.
Puntland is looking at it that way though.

it is allowed for Muslims to seek assistance from non-Muslims if there is a need, just as the Prophet (ﷺ) sought the assistance of Safwān bin Umayyah, who was not a Muslim at the time at the battle of Hunayn.
Mālik Ibn Anas (died 179H) said, “There is no harm in seeking their assistance in a time of need.” Also on this view were Abū Hanīfah (died 150H), Ash-Shāfiʿī (died 204H), Al-Laith and Al-Awzāʿī (died 157H) and others. (See At-Tahrīr wat-Tanwīr of Ibn ʿĀshūr 1/741)
Ibn Uthaimeen also stated that seeking aid from the non-Muslims (unbelievers) in wartime through commissioning a supply of weapons from them or other than that is allowable and permissible since in that there is a benefit for the Muslims. (See Tasfīr Āli ‘Imrān 1/169-170 of Ibn Uthaimeen)
Sheikh Abdulaziz ibn Baz has prominent fatwas on this matter, summarized as follows: "When necessity and urgency call for it, it is obligatory to repel evil by any means possible, whether through a Muslim, disbeliever, sinner, or hypocrite in times of necessity, with the condition of ensuring safety and that the prevailing situation leads to safety and benefit from the one being aided against the enemy being fought."
Anyone who has a issue with Somalis working with non muslims (regardless of their true intention allahualam) to cleanse the khawarij problem is either woefully ignorant about such matters and see everything black and white or khawarij sympathizers

If iidoor had held onto Sool to Jan 2025, they might have gotten recognition. Losing the war ended all serious Republican interest, see the withdrawal of all mention of Somaliland from the 2023 and 2024 NDAA.
US got burned with South Sudan, which is entering a new civil war, they don't want to create another failed state in East Africa. Somalia has been voting with the US consistently since Culusow came into office. There is nothing the US wants that it can't get from the FGS.
