A lot of it is lack of interest. Lots of veterans have been mistreated by the state over here. If the country tried to mobilise there would be massive pushback

I’m pretty sure it’d swell in size if Britain faced an invasion from an actual enemy. Truth of the matter is, very few people in Britain are motivated to fight for NATO’s interests and Ukraine, be as it may the Ukrainians are fighting a war for the survival of their nation.

Also the army, especially the infantry is usually understaffed due to how unappealing it is in terms of future career advancement (skills, trades, pay etc etc)
