Sxb it's just generally Asian countries are like 50-80 years ahead of America infrastructure.
China first had a leader who was just and was minimally corrupted. Deng Xiaoping opened up the economy and had a “lets get rich” mentality. He started mixing capitalism with tight government control over the land. Basically he consolidated and centralised power into one body. The Chinese didnt stick to this for a few years but for DECADES.Knowing China was just as bad as us at some point is so frustrating.
With the money that was now being accumulated due to capitalism, the Chinese leaders put a crazy amount of money in education and infrastructure.
Chinas government also had stricttt control on the country and made decisions even if the people didnt like it. Theres no time for tribalism, feudalism and warlords. They had so much power that they would be shutdown immediately.
Somalis on the other hand… We need to put quran saar every single politician. We also need mass change our culture.
I was more so referring to the fact they also used to be poor and famine stricken. Government wise, we're the definition on screwed. Even if we get oil money this month, not one single school will open. I can't believe HSM went to school back when Somalia had free education and has zero plans to implement the same amenities he grew up with.

American infrastructure focuses to much on highways which has gutted the inner city the east coast in particular is perfect for high speed rail
Most Suburbs are literally cookie cutter its like nobody cared about the aesthetics

China had the worlds largest economy larger than the British empire even during the century of humiliation until 1890 when America overtook them
India , Philippines , and Somalia could be first world right now but no there run by corrupt clowns who cant build a road

The culture was so good. The downsides was instability in the north and FGM. But there was nationwide campaign against Fgm anyway and it may have been eliminated if not for the civil war.

We have so much potential longest coastline in Africa on the border of some of the business’s trade routes in the world and plenty of Arab nations nearby to trade with top it of our population is very young
African politicians should be ashamed most countries became independent 60 years ago today name 5 African countries that are first world even Egypt and South Africa are struggling with debt and rampant inflation

I didn't know about this campaign. I wish people who talked about FGM in the Somali community tried to do more to help the girls in our country.
Yeah it wasn't perfect, in fact it was an atrocious government, but it would have been easier to build a first world country back then, than now. We have so much work to do now.

Hard pill to swallow but until Somali culture stops looking down on manual labour like we some entitled gulf Arabs and this ridiculous obsession with clans goes away we won’t go anywhere
