Also they have less kids and focus in each one with precision dedication. It's their culture. I wish we put as much stock into education.Even in america asians have this work ethic and often have school after regular school where parents pay for tutoring and more studying so they can get ahead. This is how they pack the top schools in america. Putting in double the effort of the average kid
That's an issue as well. I don't think it's good to go to the same extreme as them. When everyone works it, it's so much harder to outperform. But their culture of valuing education is worth copying. It's actually not really good what East Asian countries like China, Korea or Japan are doing because not only are they burning out and sometimes dying at high rate by death by overwork
It also results in lower productivity. They work a lot, many hours but it's low unproductive work in most cases.

And their studying isn't geared towards retaining and depth of understanding the subjects they learn but mostly just intense hours long cramming and memorization.
It's important to study little by little hours spacing it between days, weeks , months, not doing 10 hour sessions each day. You need breaks and time in between.
All of this has actually resulted in youth rebellions like Hikimori ''Shut in's'' in Japan and Bai Lan ''Let it Rot'' in China which essentially youth giving up and not working studying or doing anything.
Because working long hours is all unsustainable, exhaustive to the point of mental breaking point and the high pressure is anxiety inducing.

yes very admirable work ethic they have patience and build up generation by generation. No unrealistic i will be rapper entertainer or athlete. slow and stead grind each generation sacrificing to get ahead and build future for kidsAlso they have less kids and focus in each one with precision dedication. I think that the fact good education doesn't reward you in Somalia is another issues. I'm talking specifically in Somalia, not diaspora. There is high joblessness because of lack of infrastructure. There is also a lot of nepotism/clansism in some industries. I wouldn't put in the hours if I had such a bleak set up either. In China, its do or die. If you do well in the exam you'll have brought your family "honour". Studying is a guaranteed better life as what school you study at will determine where you work as an adult and your future.

for example credit cards. they made buyings stuff way easier but also started issues like identity theft.
Nordic countries like middleast small population with alot of resourcesI prefer the nordic education system compared to that of east asians it seems way more efficient and very stress free which equates to the children performing well on average. For any type of development or advancement we should look at the nords as examples.
I think the Nordic system is ideal but realistically our country wouldn't be able to emulate it very well. It's something I'd like to see in a stable Somalia when we have better infrastructure but countries like China (Who have developed quickly) have had a history more similar to us. Like China and even Russia, we've had instability and need to get ourselves out of it quickly. The nordic education system doesn't seem like it was made with that in mind. But I'd definitely like to see such a system like that in our country someday. I just don't think it would work for us nowI prefer the nordic education system compared to that of east asians it seems way more efficient and very stress free which equates to the children performing well on average. Yeah, productivity is key!I agree, the value they place in education should be emulated but not how they approach learning tbh. Or the extreme over work stuff.
Work ethic and education value are good things. But you have to be able to grant space to cut lose and enjoy life, it's not about the quantity but the quality of what you do. It's better to have 3 productive hours than and 16 unproductive hours of work/studying.
I see alot of posts around aspiring to replicate chinese success in Africa. People see the end results but dont often see the grind that goes into building society like that
China lifted hundreds of million out of poverty and cornered most world industries .they were poor country that’s becoming like west. It will take some time to get rid of the cheap labor which turned them into industrial giant . It doesn’t suprise me Nordic country has higher labor productivity they have much better wages and output per personIf you click one of the links i shown you it talks about labour productivity in different countries. Norway for example has the highest labour/work productivity but they work less than half of what Japan and China does who have one of the lowest. They have greater work-life balance. So the trade off is unnecessary
Working like a maniac that's about to pass out, will not propel Africa forward , trust me. They should focus on working better and more efficiently, not just longer.
Patience is a virtue. Grinding for 20 plus years of schooling sometime 30 to become doctor and enduring all those difficulties not many have that patience and spirit. Takes parents heavily involved and pushing kids through their chaotic years so they don’t lose focusBlack specialty
