This 'Semitic colonisers' argument doesn't make sense.:ivers:

How? Unless you believe that the Ethio-Semites sprang from the earth like plants?

More of 'learn as you go' than studying. I agree that the most reasonable state of 'belief' is agnosticism but in terms of religion and faith, it's more complex than popularity. If it was just about popularity, (on a broad scale) everyone who is not Christian should convert to Christianity since it is the largest religion in the world...but yet you see others choosing Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, til today.

It might as well be Cushitic, most Ethiopians/Eritreans are more Cushitic than Semitic according to DNA results (and yes, the highlanders). Thus, you should choose *predominantly Cushitic conquerors* because they are Horners, it would contest the "white supremacy" narrative, they share genetic markers, similar culture/easier to co-exist with, similar phenotype, average civilians more embracing/accepting of Somalis, similar diaspora experiences, and they are not as cruel/dehumanizing/racist as the white Italian colonizers.

Most Habeshas are Cushitic yes, but that's because they've assimilated a lot of indigenous groups like the Agew, Beja, Bilen, Saho.etc. Who knows what other languages and cultures were uprooted. There stills remains a significant portion which have direct Ancestry from those Semitic colonisers and their faith and language are still foreign. Not only that, they've managed to impose it on a whole country, not just the northern Highlands. I don't see that as any different from Italians colonising the horn and making us learn Italian. The skin colour of the oppressor is irrelevant.

Because you are acting like we are direct descendants of Arabs that only reproduced with each other :pachah1:...

Most of our DNA is not Arab, it's the minority, so I'm struggling to understand why the minority suddenly dictates who we are and is treated as a majority:ayaanswag:.

I didn't say you were Arab. Arabs didn't come into contact with the horn until the muslim period. I said that a portion of Habesha are direct descendants of Semitic people, most likely south Semites from Yemen. That's hardly controversial. The language, writing and elements of the culture are linked to the southern semites.:ayaanswag:

Yes that's what I mean though, we are not just direct descendants of Semitic people only, otherwise we'd look like Yemeni's and we don't.:reallymaury:

Many of us have the A haplogroup, ,maybe some others will take it one day:fittytousand:

But even you have over 30% MENA ancestry, that's very significant, irregardless of your DNA haplogroup. Compare that to Somalis, who on average have over 90% East African ancestry.

TooMa'aan is jacking up her worth with the suspense. A male does not call himself "Too ma;aan" unless there is something wrong with him. That about solves her gender.

And she writes good. Too philosophical but evasive and articulate. I would almost say she is that GodKnowsbest loose canon who disappeared but am not sure. She wrote good as well.

PS: TooMa'aan, We gladly give your hand to our brother here from Ethiopia. Nice match up and wish you happy marriage and large family.

1. What suspense?? I've already said that I was female countless times on this forum.
2. I have no clue who "GodKnowsBest" is and this is my first and only account. Since the association you've made between her(?) and I is a positive one, I'm just gonna say thanks...(thank you Burhan)...and leave it at that.

P.S. How did your post go from asking me some questions to 'handing me off to marriage'? o_O Who said I was looking for this? Why is it a nice match up? Who said I wanted a family, let alone a large one? So confused rn...

Young Popeye

Call me pops
1. Whether it is Ethiopian Christian or a different form of Christianity doesn't make much a difference (unless the religion is being used as a means to strip the indigenous culture [which doesn't have to happen by the way]). You would be willing to accept Somalis who convert to Cadaan Catholicism...but not ones who convert to Orthodox of Ethiopian neighbors (which, by the way, is MUCH more similar to Somali culture (& Islam) due to the proximity in HOA)???

2. Now you're only saying that Oromos are "culturally similar" when before you said "culturally indistinguishable"...that's quite the difference since that can be said about most countries in the HOA:mjlol:...and I see you've also stopped claiming Hararis as being Somalis too?? At least progress is being made lol. By the way, you can't compare claiming Dire to Addis: Ogaden is just a federal state neighboring Oromia *Ogaden is not its own country yet*, there are a lot of Oromos living in Dire but there aren't a lot of Somalis living in Addis (or in other Oromia regions, for that matter), and lastly Addis is the capital of Ethiopia (in addition to being the capital of Oromia) and very mixed in terms of ethnic groups. You claiming Addis would only be a reasonable comparison if Oromos were expanding into Mogadishu.

3. As for Gurey, his origins will always be contested but he could be Harari (thus, being Ethiopian by nationality...Harar is not part of Ogaden or other Somali areas). But if you wish to say he isn't Harari and claim him as Somali, I'm happy to let you do so...he can be darood since most of his army probably were...I refuse to accept him as Isaaq like you suggested though.:kendrickcry::kanyeshrug:

Harar is the historic capital of Ogaden which was Harari territory and is still considered Harari except the people have lost their language to Irir Samale

What part of my post are you responding to? And do you mean Harar is capital of Oromia, not Ogaden?

Damn! you are good at lining up questions. Well, thanks for telling you are a female. I haven't followed you around. I usually log in and choose what topic I want to participate without reading everything.

PS: Did you answer the question of your religion? Out of curiosity. That does it for me as I have to catch a train. Multitasking all day. Have a nice night everyone.

You don't have to treat me nicer just because I'm female, ya know? I'm not so fragile that I can't even handle online conversations; all I'd ask for(and would also return) in any conversation is civility/respect, if possible. What was up with the deleted post and comparing female genitalia to "cavities"..?? What is up with the earlier post and the whole marriage insinuation?? You still haven't clarified...?

I don't even think I've ever had a conversation with you outside of this encounter...but for some reason you seem to have some animosity towards me...?? I will disclose some info about myself soon enough (although I don' t really understand why that type of information should precede in defining my character).

What you write is what defines your character without you giving any personal details in a way. You can have good character and be an affable personality with any other religion or without one really. It is how we conduct ourselves that define our true beliefs. Our thoughts represent parts of us that are real. With each post we are exposing that to others and we are judged by it rightly. Even our intellect can be gleaned from what we write on here. There is no escaping from that.

You don't need to give personal details. Religion can be personal for some who like to avoid unwanted attention or arguments over their beliefs. I think for such individual, they shouldn't discuss other people's faiths since they keep theirs personal. All are happy that way.

I am not too curious now. You have said enough dear, Good luck on the forums.
