Yeah I used to be a hard lander but I've reflected and I'm high key scared about the precedent an independent somaliland would give to the rest of somalia. We'd be rife for foreign interference by Ethiopia etc

Everything about modern Somalia is foreign in nature from it's army to it's institutions and more which is unsurprising considering it was founded in a foreign capital.

It's entire existence depends on the "good will" of foreigners.

I know that somali unification is a product of colonialism. I know that somalis were part of their own clan states. But clearly, somalis are better off unified. By all means, if you're wish is that clan states are recognized at the cost of somali development then fine. But somalis will be left behind by the world due to this qabilism. Countries that have 1000s of ethnics groups, religions etc. Can unite under one flag and understand their influence, defence and interests are better when united. But somalis with the same ethnicity, same religion same culture can't because of something Somalis created themselves.

I used to think this too. But the reality is that basically every govt in somalia is a clan based state and they all use some variation of the 4.5 system but on the level of Sub-clans . The fgs is in some ways just a reflection of the other federal member states. I mean the 4.5 system when you look at it closely was just based on the clan based governance of SL and PL .

Also, I already know that the darood kaacan government tried to run isaaqs off their land after the ogaden war. I also know that isaaqs were disproportionately represented in the SNA and bore the brunt of the war with Ethiopia, so stop acting like I don't know that. I'm not saying to ignore clans completely and how they effect Somali national politics. But to not let it divide us to the point we want to be an independent nation. I'd rather have a confederation of states and one nation.
