Dhulbahante are deluded if they think they will get anything more than they already have in Somaliland, They are the second largest clan in British Somaliland, but the highest office they occupy is 1st deputy speaker of parliament. This was when Somaliland needed them, now that they want to join in their entirety, there is no reason why they should get anything more. Already Somaliland politicians are saying there will be no clan based power sharing, and that everything will be decided by vote, i.e the status quo.
Many Dhulbahante are entertaining the belief that they can compete fairly and win political power like the Gadabursi, forgetting that they are Darod and that the Isaaq see them as their archenemy. I doubt that Dhulbahante will ever replace Gadabursi as VP let alone win the presidency. Permanent minority status, disarmamaent and shrinking land awaits. What a terrible situation.
