It is not a plan, it is happening right now. The army is coming from all direction and encircling Mekele. Mekele now has no access to the north, no access to the south, no access to Afar to the east and no access to Sudan in the west. Severe food and fuel shortages are reported.
The bombings are always against military targets. The air force did bomb many targets from the start of the war almost every day. Tigray TV today said one of the bombs hit a residential home. This is the first time I hear with evidence that civilians were targeted. Other claims that civilians were targeted have no evidence until now. The air force of course should take more care in cities like Mekele.

There are unitarists , federalists and secessionists in the Ethiopian political landscape.
Abiy is clearly trying to create a centralized governing system as in Turkey. He even renamed his party as Prosperity Party (PP) in a similar fashion as Erdogan's. At first it seems like an understandable move for a leader who wants to propel his country to the new achievements in the shortest time possible.
Unfortunately for Abiy, Ethiopia is not one ethnic nation, but rather there are 4 major ethnic groups. He has the same problem as the EU. There are too many cooks in the kitchen.
To solve this problem he has chosen to elevate Amharas to the previous glory. Unfortunately his initial base, Oromos, rejected it by en large. Tigrayans encapsulated themselves in their own region. The only success Abiy and his Amhara overlords have is the neutered DDS.
Both Oromos and Tigrayans were militarily assaulted by Abiy. As @xabashi said many disputed parts in the Tigray are now permanently given to Amhara Region. Abiy has turned into a fascist when he unleashed ethnic cleansing of Tigrayans and cut off electricity and internet to Tigray, even going as far as damaging the Tigrayan dam. 200,000 refugees are expected in Sudan, with many of them already there. In Tigray hospitals are without electricity, people are dying because Abiy decided so.
That's the real picture.

. This thread is about the ongoing war and let's finish this war as quickly as possible and go back to developing our country. In this regard you should contribute your share and tell your TPLF bosses that they should hand over themselves ASAP and not let poor Tigray kids die in vain. At the end of the day they will be captured anyway, so why should poor souls need to die? Tell them also that they should not hope on delusional negotiations talk. That is not gonna happen.

For example, Ethiopia's economy grew for the past decade yet the average teacher only makes $15 a month, for reference in towns right across the border in rural Sudan teachers make $70 a month. Their government is extremely broke and dependent on aid and China (who won't be helping them right now).

Please give us updates on developments on the ground in Sudan. Is there any sign that Sudan and Egypt might help Tigray and finish off the western project of the chimera country called Ethiopia?
I doubt Sudan will help Ethiopia. The Sudanese military is very angry that the Ethiopian military killed a Sudanese officer, plus Amhara gangs routinely kidnap Sudanese women and children for ransom (they assume every Sudanese person is rich) and routinely rob Sudanese farmers.
Even Tigray president admitted and accused the army of sending Amhara fighters to the front while the army is behind. Btw the war will be over this week (max next week). TPLF is ashamed to be beaten by Amhara farmers and the army to the extent it is desperate to internationalize it so to be able to tell its suppoters that it lost because it was fighting Ethiopia, Amhara, Eritrea, UAE etc. In the next days TPLF will add Germany, Spain, Brazil and what not to the list of countries it was fighting to justify its complete lose in 2-3 weeks

Ethiopia is too big to be one country. Let us curve the ugly country into smaller countries please peacefully as a solution. East Africa would be more stable that way. And prosperuous. The money both Eritrea and Ethiopia pour into Military equipment would become available for more useful investments and neighbouring coutries like Somalia and Jabuuti will benefit from lack of political interference. Everybody will be happy.
I read some speculation that the joint air training is just an excuse for Egypt to approach GERD and feel out Ethiopia's anti air defense capabilities. Considering the timing and how this is the first ever joint air training exercise between Sudan and Egypt, I think this actually makes sense.

It took out scores of S-300, Pantsir and other Russian made systems in Syria, Libya and Azerbaijan. It creeps up undetected due to its small size and use precision-guided bombs and rockets.
Ethiopia has outdated Soviet air defense systems and recently acquired Pantsir system.

The problem with the Turks is that they have permanent identity crisis. They are European, Middle Eastern and Central Asian at the same time.
But the Turkish tech is coming along very nicely. Azerbaijan couldn't get its lands back from Armenia for 30 years. It took just 40 days for Turkey to give Azerbaijan its lands back. The Turks have coined the term "drone war" in military science and history. It is hard to believe a Muslim country did this.
