I was the only Somali girl in my year group who wore trousers. All the other girls wore skirts, so I always assumed they didn't want to wear trousers (I never asked them why).
However, after speaking to a Somali girl recently, she told me that she was not allowed to wear trousers, and neither were her sisters/friends.
My parents are pretty lenient with what I'm allowed to wear, as long as it's not super tight, it's fine.
Were any of you not allowed to wear trousers?
Also, this is my first thread, so sorry in advance if there are any formatting errors!! :it0tdo8:

I wear trousers. My parents don't really care. Most of the girls in my family wear whatever they want. Idk about their parents or how they feel about it tho tbh.

My parents didn't care much until recently. Whenever I'm out with my dad, my mum makes me wear a dress because it's ceeb to be wearing trousers with your Dad. It's so backwards. People have more to say about non hijabis or girls who wear trousers than g@ng crime.

Gracias

I wear what I want tbh. I have a sister who never wears skirts or dresses (only trousers) and has always done this and another sister who always wears dresses or skirts and when she does wear trousers, she pairs it with a long cardigan or open abaya. My mom grew up wearing a turban type hijab and trousers so it would be unfair for her to be hypocritical. Idk what my dad thinks because he never comments on our outfits unless it’s eid

You guys are lucky if you can wear pants 💔😓 my parents are crazy. I asked once to wear pants cause my cousins do and got beat 😭😭😭

I still don’t wear pants. I don’t even wear abaya and hijab with other clothes under and take it off later when I’m out the house like some girls ik do I just can’t be assed. I’m stuck in this hijab and abaya till I can move out. But this summer I am going to some concerts so I plan on changing when I’m out before getting to the stadium

My mom was the one harping on about modesty. She allowed me to wear trousers when I was much younger and I was SO happy in those times. But when I got a bit older, we were walking past a somali girl in a long skirt and uniform, she told me I was going to wear that soon. I laughed because I thought she was joking. She wasn't.
