Cush

So where do you think Cushitic speakers fall into? Are they Phutites or Casluhim?

Edit on further consideration: Probably Casluhim, since the Beja are probably the last remains of the ancient Meroitic peoples, the descendants of Kush.

Phut is definitely Libya and Libyans, the ancestors of Amazigh peoples.

Neither, I don't think they knew of anything south of Egypt. Phut was definitely in Libya and referred to Libyan tribes, the ancestors of Amazigh
Makes sense. So what would in your opinion be the correct biblical lineage/name for the ancestors of Cushitic speakers then? If they're not Phutites, Casluhim or true Cushites?

There isn't one. Casluhim is probably closest but they would be a related tribe, maybe the ancestors of the Beja

Just because Beja speak a Cushitic language, doesn't make them the descendants of the Meroitic/Kush people. Their ancestors where the Blemmyes.

The descendants of Kush/Meroe are the Shaigiya tribe who inhabit the Kushite heartland.

Are you sure it was the Bejas and not the ancestors of Suadenese Arabs/Nubians who were the Meorites?

True. The Blemmyes were of various tribes, but settled among the Nubians and got marginalized, iirc

The Blemmyes and Beja connection is what historians generally agree upon.

Blemmyes is the Greek name for Kushites, and Greek records list the Blemmyes are the original inhabitants of Nubia prior to the Nubian invasions of Kush during the Roman rule in Egypt.

Blemmyes, Beja and Kushites (Kasu) are all different names for the same nation, likely Casluhim as well.
