Deni: We will establish our own currency.

Good news. The south do not accept somali shilling from PL as it is. They have avdiweli gaas to thank for that.It makes no difference.

The problem with Puntland is that everyone knows you are fake and trying to drive a hard bargain. These stunts won't go anywhere. Just crawl back to your FGS masters. Its actually even annoying to hear about them.

Who has heard of acting like an independent state until you get what you want?

Puntland is buying insurance in case of total FGS collapse by creating its own institutions and building up its state capacity, as a nation-state would. These are not stunts, it's creating the skeleton of an independent state in case of total state failure.

Puntland's politicians are realists. They are not the ones trying to hold nationwide elections in a country where an Al Qaeda affiliate holds a third of the territory.

If I'm not mistaken a currency value is determined by the resources of the nation so what resources does puntland have to support their new currency.

Because with strong support for this new currency the paper it's made of is more valuable than it.

PL has lots of resources, Google and you will see.. Only thing which has been holding PL from developing is their attachment to the failed Somali state..

Insurance? Nation state?

Hmm more like political stunts timed to weaken the incumbent president. This is why no one takes you seriously. A currency is not existential issue or probably even an important one but it signals the lack of confidence which is all you are really aiming for, and you want to use as leverage in future in negotiations.

You still haven’t explained why SL is doing so poorly according to WB reports but here you are running your mouth. You hide when confronted with facts. Talk about lame.

A new currency is a complete waste of time, Hargeisa and Mogadishu both use USD so what's the point ?
PL should focus on building military power, tune the judicial system, Land reform, SSC solution, get funding for the 3G road and much more.

If the 3G road and the hospital are completed we gone baby!

I get where you're coming from, but having our own currency ain’t just about ditching the USD—it’s about standing on our own two feet. Think about it: a local currency gives Puntland more control over our economy, helps businesses grow, and makes trade easier for the folks there. Plus, it shows the world we’re serious about building something lasting.

Yeah, there’s a ton of other stuff we gotta focus on—military, courts, land, SSC, roads—all that’s important too. But you can’t build all that without a strong economic backbone. A local currency could bring in more investment, make funding projects like the 3G road easier, and give us the tools to shape our future without being so tied to outside systems.

It ain’t about doing one thing over the other. It’s about doing what’ll help Puntland move forward as a whole. Plus, he emphasized he's speech with having feasibility study to see how fruitful this move is going to be for Puntland.
