Bruh, I remember in 2009/10 times when SS was President almost 80% of the parliament were westerners. Dual citizens like Farmajo and Tarzan were common, ministers and mayors were mostly Euro and American Somali odays.

my working theory is the less significant diaspora funding of the government became (and the wealthier daljoogs became) the less unique we became.

When I visited Bosaaso and Garowe and Xamar I observed that diaspora land buyers were being pushed out of each city. They were unable to purchase in hot areas because locals only bought and sold to each other.

There’s something hilarious about diaspora Somalis joining the middle class if they ever move back home en masse. The people they sent half their cheque to will be the wealthy land owners and we’ll be the renters

The middle and upper class back home are wealthy the western diaspora cant compete at all. They both play their part however the remitance sent back home benefit the businessowner back home without it they would have no wealth.

In theory, yeah. But there have been many stories of families even pushing diaspora out of shared property/investment cause they know they can’t leave their jobs and homes in UK or America to come and deal with them.

Alot of the wealthy daljoogs were herders who sold all their neefs and moved to the city. The average geel can cost up to a rack , now imagine if they got a minimum of 50.

They have backers from other countries too who have big bucks. You need a lot of money to compete with them, I guess social media can even out the playing field if you are a populist with no money but that will only work if 1m1v is implemented

Turkey gets a market to export they produce nearly everything, many of their citizens moved to Mogadishu and work there then factor in that alot Somalis go to Turkey to open up shops, education , healthcare and so on. Qatar? i guess they got to much money and love exporting their terrorism. UAE is interesting i honestly think deep down they are afraid if Somalia become stable we can easily rival their ports and the control they got on that route rn.
