I would take this with a grain of salt if their going by census numbers were somalis in the US rarely spell out other and somali and usually check black/african

If they can't do something simple as spell they wouldn't be let in as migrants I never heard of uneducated migrant being accepted before

Somalispot polls are a convenience sample. By definition, they’re not representative of a group. There could be a larger sample of immigrants in the population of Somalispot users than there are in the general population. I would think most ppl with FOB/camp experiences wouldn’t self-select to be forumer types.

At the same time, as already mentioned, there could also be a sampling bias where ppl don’t want to identity as refugees, and are lying on the poll.

My parents left Somalia in 1988 after Siad Barre started his crimes in the north. My dad had to leave Somalia multiple times because he would often sing songs against the government hence was a target for imprisonment but the bombings were the last straw for my family leaving Mogadishu in 1988.

They eventually settled in the UK in the late 90s.

Coming as refugees does not equal being uneducated. Some educated people arrived to the West as plain refugees. But obviously #NotAll.
