It's a city settled by both Somalis and Oromos. Development is more important than everything else.
Is the mayor Somali?
I think he's Oromo. The previous mayor was Somali, though.

The city has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it's been neglected for a long time but it's great that the government are prioritizing and pouring in investments there.
This is a Real economic template I only wish PL did it but their 'xoolo' and Hamar is busy with pathetic 'image branding' of buildings looooooool as if it's a 'rare commodity' wat ur building therefore no 'wealth' branding behind it.
What these guys r doing is creating a real product and mass employment and they set up the industrial park and growing ur ppl wallet sizes so they can then do never-ending property purchases, vehicle purchasing, conssumer product spending which will lead to more investors of all scale(large, medium, small) to rush in to tap into it or existing investors to expand.
I been to this town, it's a shame how oromo are majority though with the Somali left in 1 'xafaad' issa they call it. It's like Galkacyo North and Baraxley South situation, where Issa is the baraxley. Oromo are Somali biggest enemy not Amhara, Oromo is inside trojan enemy also, a smiling enemy, in-fact he has lots of loyalist inside Somali 'walalo bullshit' they use to keep their enemy guard down, their goal is dire-dawa all over Somalia.
Oromo were 90% when I was there, that census is fake and fudged. Xafaad Issa was a 'tiny' quarter or xafaad not even 'degmo'. U would need 'degmo' or half the city of dire for Issa to hold that 40%.

You're confusing language with ethnicity. A significant part of Dir Dhaba is inhabited by Gurgura, who are Somali by lineage/ethnicity, but many of them do speak Oromo as mother tongue and to some extent culturally Oromo as well.

You're not wrong about the fact that Gurgura are on good terms with Oromos. They are even politically allied, especially the Nole Oromos. Though, many of them identify as Somali.
On good terms kulaha, dhib badana somalidu trying to hide the shame. War wala gabtay and oromo sheego ayaa lagu yiri ama akhiro ayaad tahay kkkkk. Now the question is, why r Somalis off-guard knowing this is their intention for all OUR LAND.

I put it down to how they converted into crypto jew tactic but crypto oromo embedded in Somali-Amhara with them off-guard as they assimilate but not fully only 'partially' and pass intel to oromia about how 'to break these ppl' as they know their values, history, clans, structure, fighting style. They also ensure they keep up the 'we walalo program' to keep Somali off-guard thinking an 'enemy is only external or someone u know' but it's the enemy from within that destroys every group.
