I'm very happy with my Muslim name, Hussein. A name after the grandson of Rasolullah SAW.

People need to learn how to differentiate between Arab names and Islamic names. Most Somalis have Islamic names....not traditional Arab names like: Sami, Baseem, Nadir, and Maher...You'll never find Somali men with these names.

And when they do name their kids, traditional Arab names such as; Umar, Hamza, Hassan, Hussein (such as myself), they do it to honour the Sahaba and family of The Prophet (SAW), that had those names.

Educate yourselves, people.

Not necessarily: Turks turkified the name of the Prophet SAW as Mehmet....and West African Muslims have done the same such as Ahmadou, Mahamadou, Fatmatou (Fatima), and so on.

Somalis do the same. Maxamed, Maxamud, Axmad, Fadumo and so forth. And you're right, as far as I know, you never really see Somalis with plain Arabic names with no religious connotations like Maher or Bassem. In fact, those names always stood out to me as pretty foreign when growing up around Arabs.

I've never heard of that name lol.

It's super obscure and a ridiculous name by all accounts, to be fair. Naming someone after a day of the week. And it's too cutsie too. Like a kid's nickname, not something I could call a grown woman with a straight face.

The point is going well over your head. Ready my two previous comments carefully, and have hard think.
I read it those names all have tie to arabs culture before nabi mohamed became nabi his parents name him mohamed and nabi childs and sahabas
My question is why islamic names have to be prounouns arabic why why cant dont it prounouns somali
Making names turkified or somalified dont make somali islamic names but arab those names came from arab culture

Arabic names arent somali names also dont compare europeans tht share same ancestors with each others to somali ppl europeans dont take non europeans names like arabic or asian or Indians or black african or somali
Somali should adopt similar names tht they share with oromos other ppl tht live horn of Africa
It is about identitty and nom somali names cant be somali non somali word tht are in somali languages arent somali
There is no such somalified arabs names only arabic names and not somali

because africans had no influence on europeans. the europeans who were influenced by arabs like the spanish to this day still have arabic names. at the end of the day whether you like ot or not, arabic had a strong influence on much of the world including somalia, thats not the issue. somali culture is just weak. no real written language, no literature, no arts, no media....if it fades away its not arabic influence its because its lackluster. most other cultures would use parts from other cultures to modernize their own while still retaining their own culture.
