Somalis back home have herd mentality too we are not doing the comparison here. No individuality back homeSomalis in Somalia and diaspora Somalis are very different. Diaspora Somalis typically have a herd mentality/hive mind really there’s a lot of stereotypes attributed to us that we conform to in large part and we move as a more cohesive unit since we’re surrounded by ajnabis. Somalis in somalia however are a different story I’d say they’re one of the most individualistic people. Outside of clan loyalties you won’t have that conformist nature of other nations people generally have so much pride and develop their own unique personality, some things which are inherent to the Somali culture are universal for all Somalis such as nicknames and what not but personality wise we are unique. Group wise we have group identification in psychological terms which is the act or process of associating oneself with a group and its members, such that one imitates and internalises the group's actions, beliefs, standards, objectives, and so forth. This can observed through clan warfare and the warrior culture of Somalis back home.
