Do you say I love you…?

that is sweet but I think actions are much better than words.

having known people who use "love bombing" and are the meanest people, I now have zero care for things like I love you, sweet words, compliments etc. and they actually make me feel suspicious and uneasy 👀
I meant genuine and occasional use of I love you towards family and not some random situation with people.

It's easy to pick up on sociopathic manipulation. They will tend to "love bomb" suddenly and in uncalled for situations. If you are an emotionally mature and self assured person, you will be able to tell the difference easily is my point.

The best love is self love

How can you love yourself? You are not two people but one being. It does not make sense.

When people say self love, they should say radiate love from your being. Then you will see through a new lense. Meaning that you will understand love and conversely the lack of it.

Never said it to parents or heard it from them, and if I said it to them they would think I was soft and needed the geeljire manhood smacked back into me.

But still I know they loved me without saying it. Actually I said it to my mum once when I was older and she said it back, but it just felt soo awkward lool.

Tbh I think the older generation and dhaqanka somali they show love more through words then actions.

Us younger generations are more sensitive tbh. I tell my wife and kids I love them all the time, but lol I use it sparingly on my wife so she gets surprised and happy when I say it to her..it makes her day.

I didn’t grow up hearing it and so when I made friends who came from affectionate households and would say “I love you” frequently I was thrown off lol

I’ve started saying it back to friends but I would feel awkward saying it to my parents. 😂 it’s just not a term in their vocabulary. They have other ways of showing love ig

I agree with you, I dont think theres anything wrong with it. Just saying that my experience from it made me not really care for nice words

Unfortunately no.
My mama and aabo express their love through actions. Even when they yelled at me, mum would make my favorite meal or aabo give me pocket money or buy me something. Ngl, I wish I heard I'm sorry or I love you from them sometimes but that's just who they are. I know they didn't withhold affectionate words because they wanted to hurt us, they just didn't know better and were raised that way themselves. I hope to break the cycle with my kids.

One of the side effect , I really hate men who lead with sweet talks and calacal on the talking stages. I am never flattered. For me, actions speaks louder than words when it comes to love..
