Do you tell people ur Somali

I can answer your obsession to this recent social media banter.

In the 1960s isaaq was one of the most somali jeceyl compared to any other qabils at the time. Our grandfathers had somalinimo blood in them. There is evidence when the British gave somaliland an option similar to Djibouti to become an independent country that was not part of Somalia. We chose to join with our people and took the calan all the way to Mogadishu. Djibouti smartly chose to be independent cause they knew somalis cannot live and agree to each other on small matters. Our reward was the genocide attempt by saiyad barre that today some youngsters in social media are trying to eradicate the event.

Since the establishment of Somaliland our relationship with Ethiopia has grown including the trade and economy. The song is not about ethnicity but the strong relationship and the recognition of Somaliland. I know your talking about the song, I saw it in tiktok, you took it personal and serious.
Then why do many say that they were forced into an illegal union and constitution they never ratified?

We can go in circles, why this than why that, you should verify your statement instead of pointing negative fingers. To answer your simple question, the option was given and presented not a force option. Who gave K5 to Ethiopians? NFD to Kenyans? So the option was presented to our grandfathers to divide us as a British ruled country but instead we rejected and chose to unit with Somalia, a well known historical event no one argues about it.

i’ll tell them i’m djiboutian which is actually as i’m entitled for a djibouti nationality and my grandfather was in the djibouti national army

I am not pointing negative fingers, I'm just telling you what your government claims. One of the main points of arguments for secession is that those 31 years was an illegal annexation, not a union. When you imply that you joined of your own accord, then you admit your case for secession is weakened.

There is nothing wrong with saying that Landers were never invested in the idea of Somalia. If anything, I think when you imply that they were, you do a disservice to the actual Somalis who bled and fought for that blue flag.

This is the type of people I was referring to, no accountability to the genocide attempt, more than 500,000 people of landers lost their lives and your mentioning the blue flag and the national song invented by us issaq. Learn history and the contribution isaaq had on Somalia particularly in the education sector. @Garaad Awal can you see indho adega by certain people.

Instead of bringing justice to the people who destroyed Somalia foundation your focus is on what contribution isaaq had on Somalia's soil and by doing so your neglecting the consequences and accountability of siyad bare's action, i am also including his right hand man.

Yes the 31 years your referring to is after we self declared our independence from Somalia. It's actually now 33 years from 1991. Nothing got to do with july 1st 1960 when the British Somali territory that is somaliland untied with the Italy somali territory. Learn the history sxb before pushing a negative narrative to our own sovereignty.

No they don’t, again you are just projecting your hate for the Isaaq clan. We are not your brothers and never will be except in religion
I have no hate towards the Isaaq clan , on the contrary many Isaaqs hate other somalis and would rather claim Xabashis, Oromo or Israelis as their brothers rather than fellow Somalis.

The estimates on the northern massacres are from 50k to 250k which is a huge range. Where di did you pull up the 500k number?
The entire civil war death toll in Somalia after 1990 is around 500k which mostly happened in the 90s . Is that a genocide as well?

This is nonsense. Even if Isaaqs are still upset about what happened in the late 80s it wasn't all of Somalia's fault, it was the governments fault. I don't understand how and why Isaaqs would blame reer Mogadishu who are mostly Hawiye and also fought against Siad for what happened with the campaign against the SNM in the north. SNM wasn't like this in the beginning, early SNM fighters were mainly focused on fighting Siad Barre. Even one of the first presidents of Somaliland (Cigaal) had reunification on the table in the beginning. After 30 years though Somaliland separatist rhetoric got more extreme and became hatred of reer Somalia who mostly have nothing to do with the massacre of Isaaq. It was a civil war , other clans got massacred and brutalized as well but they don't claim genocide. I wouldn't be surprised if 30 more years from now Isaaqs claimed to be a separate ethnicity just to boost independence claims
