Meh. Ethncities are social constructs anyway, and this is especially the case with Somalis. If you're a Chinese guy that speaks Somali, you're automatically accepted as a Somali by the mainstream. So I can't see why she should be denied.

In most ethnic groups around the world, it is usually the mother who spends most time with the children and influences their language, culture, religion and who they socialise with.
Usually the father is outside working and so is forced to spend less time with the children.

Of course this is not the case for all people, as some fathers don't work/are single parents and so forth.

In my experience, it's the complete opposite. Every Somali Father/ajnabi mother I've ever seen usually has the kids heavily involved in the Somali community and culture (Maya Jama being a strong exception). I very rarely see a Somali mother/ajnabi father result in kids that want anything to do with their Somali side.

But it might be different with Southerners, since I'm from Somaliland.
