Why random close up to Amazon River? Does the producer not know the difference between South America and Africa?
The map posted includes areas the Somali region lost as a result of the Somali-Oromo referendum of 2004.
The map that is recognized by the Ethiopian central government is this:
https://reliefweb.int/map/ethiopia/ethiopia-administrative-map-october-2020
You can see the lands the Somali region lost by comparing the two maps.
Red: Area controlled by Somali region
Green: Area claimed by Somali Region, mostly controlled by Oromia
Blue: Oromia
The green areas are the contested borderlands. Parts of this area like Salaxaad (Ogaden) in Fiiq are in the control of Somali Region.
There have been large loses in Shiniile (Ciise and Hawiye), Guradamoole (Guure Dir), Babile (Hawiye), Jinacsani (Geri Koombe), Gursum (Sheekhaash), Moyaale (Garre) etc...
Many of these Somali clans (Dir, Hawiye & Sheekaash) and Somalized Oromo (Akisho, Jaarso) voted to join the Oromo region in 2004. Most have begun to regret doing so when the Oromo continued to encroach on their land.
Apparently even the so called jaarso are refused for the top positions due to being somali and not enough oromo. The karanle who joined in 2004 can’t find jobs in oromiya admin and are discriminated by the adama/nazareth admin. 50 million oromos that don’t know qabiil are left to decide if you’ll be given a position or mashruuc and the Somalis always lose it for being somali.
There are clans in guradhamoole in libaan who have been fighting off oromo admin and their farmers who want to cross over and take it by force the lush farms owned by the Somalis. The Oromo there have been trying but are killed in every single attack sometimes using thousands of oromiya liyu police to attack. Never seen this clans threatening we will join oromo if we don’t get what we want. They’re choosing for their kids to come to live under people who hate them for what they’re. If all the clans around jigjiga went with oromo Cagjar and every single coming president will be more happy bc it will be less noise and appeasing.
Balbalayti, Chiro, deder, miesso baadiyo, Galemso, asebot and the rest of western hararghe is possibly the biggest strategic loss the Somali ethnic group has suffered. If we still lived on this land we would have had the opportunity to cut Ethiopia clean in half from on top of the mountains facing the rift if war was to ever break out. Starting from the awash river (webi dir) through metehara where ciise still live down to Borana would have been an indestructible wall.
Wallahi Dir and Hawiye lost too much crucial territory in western hararghe
Expansion continues
They are pushing south. Right into somali territory. they don’t just claim Dir Dhabo and Harar, but they go even further into Dir land. They are stealing Moyale and Imi from us. they want more access to the Shabelle river. You see that extra part outside of Dir Dhabo they claim, yeah that’s Jijiga Territory. If Dir Dhabo wasn’t bad enough, they want Jijiga too. They’re really coming for our capital in Galbeed.
that skinny part they claim inbetween Amhara, Tigray and Afar? That’s Amhara, Tigray and Afar territory. How do you even get to Tigray when there’s two ethnic groups in between them? These people are mad. They won’t leave the Southern Peoples territory alone either. They already swallowed half of Benshungul Region to their left.
@GaradShabeel updated it
Makaniis village is inhabited by Geri Koombe, Absame tribes with Jaarso minority. There was no attack. Don’t listen to the fake news being spread by Qotis. Why would Somali region attack their own citizens?
Jinacsani a town inhabited by the Somali Geri tribe was illegally annexed to oromia in 2004. We are asking for the Somali state to return the ownership of Jinacsani to the Somali native community
The somalis on the borders stand out as number 2 and if it weren't for the tigray war it would've been extra clear that there is a obvious agenda against somali in the somali region.
It might very well be the plan to keep the area unstable so that it's original inhabitants will stay away. As you can see in the map tuliguleed is one of the hotspots of the conflict on the borders. Whats more this report was at the end of last year. The afar conflict intensified early this year so the number only increased. The somali region need leadership other than the dds reginal government. Wallahi we need our own neo somali liberation front.100%. Just in my home region are there 100k+ displaced people from their homes, that started 2 decades ago. As long as permanent stability isn't there; only few will return back home knowing that your life is at risk, as soon as a 'conflict' breaks out again.

Damn, the situation seems hopeless. This will be a multi decade struggle probably, similar to how Amharas scream about Welkait + Raya, these border areas will continue to be fought over. For the most part, no. They came into an agreement with the federal gov't to disarm in 2018, and integrated the fighters within the regional state security force.
