There’s a mistaken belief that the culture in these countries we live in is the problem. It’s not. It’s the upbringing and fatherless welfare homes. It’s caused by kids having no routine or structure and resorting to their friends or gangs to fill the void left by the father.

The kid ends up hanging out with the wrong kids, entering the criminal revolving door, putting a target on their back by selling drugs etc.

To compound all of this, the parents try to “fix” the kid by throwing him into the middle of a poverty stricken lawless failed state where terrorists and criminals run wild. They apply the wrong fix to the wrong problem. That’s why the kids come back even worse.

Sending your kids to Kenya (when they never had any behavioral problems) is just asking for it. Somalis need to know the difference between deen and dhaqan celis. I did two-two year stays in Kenya. I never had any dhaqan problems. The people you'll meet in Kenya are way worse than the cadaan and madow crackheads at your local inner-city school.

Agreed, if your kids need dhaqan celis, you failed in parenting. How many kids don't graduate high school since they miss the crucial years (7-10) to absorb the fundamental basics in math and literature, then you wonder why your kids go back to the streets.

Not to mention the feelings of abandonment & resentment they'll build towards you, if I was President of Puntland, I'd ban all of it and have centres set-up to accommodate their return back to the West, these parents should just admit they don't want to raise their kids.

really, i've lived in kenya for a while and it wasn't so bad, there were alot of assholes but there were alot of genuine people too
