Nowadays, khamiis isn't just an Arab thing but it's worn by Muslims worldwide like West Africa, Indonesia, Chechnya, Turkey and even reverts in the west. Almost every Muslim culture wears the khamiis.

Also, if you read our history, khamiis was worn by those who lived on the southern coasts like the biyomaal or Abgaal. It was even worn by the MJ royals up north so yes, khamiis is pretty much part of our culture.
