So wishes the West and its pamphleteering comrades, but then again, the public knows better. If one observes the trajectory of Turkiye's history along with its economy instead of the caricature put forth by permeating, morbid chancers, one is much the wiser.
Erdogan has finalized his presidential victory, despite enormous opposition from the liberal West.
Erdogan's success terrifies liberal secular elites who hold power throughout the Muslim world. These elites are widely hated, being considered corrupt traitors allied with the liberal West. To maintain their power, such elites propagate the false idea that the only two options for Muslim populations: either hardline secular liberal dictators or random Islamic terrorist groups (e.g., Qaeda, ISIS). Secular liberal dictators present themselves as the lesser of the two evils.
Erdogan shows that there is a third option; namely, a popular movement which seeks gradual peaceful Islamicization of state and society with significant respect for the rights of non-Muslim minorities.
That being said, Muslims should never become complacent about democratic systems of government. They are not a true Islamic solution. We must never lose sight of the ideal: A khilafa that implements the Sharia of Allah. We must always advocate and strive towards the ideal.
